Popular content creators Michael ‘Shroud’ Grzesiek and Chris ‘Sacriel’ Ball have teamed up with game developer Splash Damage to collaborate on a new survival game. The upcoming title, codenamed Project Astrid, will benefit from the creators’ extensive knowledge and experience in the gaming industry.

Shroud, a former professional CS:GO player who competed between 2013 and 2017 for teams like Complexity and Cloud9, retired from competitive play to focus on content creation. He has since accumulated a massive following of 10 million on his Twitch channel. In 2022, Shroud returned to esports, signing with the Sentinels’ VALORANT roster, but has since left the organization.

Sacriel, on the other hand, is a well-known content creator who has made a name for himself on various platforms like Twitch and YouTube. He has also worked with game developers in the past to provide insights and feedback on upcoming titles.

The collaboration between the creators and Splash Damage will see Shroud and Sacriel take on the role of Executive Creators. They will work closely with the game development team to create a survival game that is “worthy of the genre.” Splash Damage, the team behind popular titles like Gears Tactics and Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, will leverage the creators’ expertise to make Project Astrid a success.

The survival genre is not typically associated with esports or competitive play. However, streaming platforms like Twitch often host Twitch Rivals tournaments that use games like Rust and Minecraft. This collaboration between Shroud, Sacriel, and Splash Damage could help change that by bringing a new level of excitement and competition to the survival game genre.

This isn’t the first time that esports players have been involved in game development. In March 2022, former Call of Duty player Patrick ‘Aches’ Price joined Ubisoft to collaborate on a new arena shooter called XDefiant.

Shroud is excited about the opportunity to work on Project Astrid, saying, “This project means everything to me. We want to build the best survival game ever, and with Sacriel’s brain and Splash Damage’s team, I know we can do it.”

Overall, the collaboration between Shroud, Sacriel, and Splash Damage is a promising development for the gaming industry. With their combined expertise and creativity, Project Astrid is sure to be a highly anticipated title in the survival game genre.
