Gamers8 Returns with a $1 Million CSGO Tournament in Riyadh This Summer
Gamers8 tournament is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from July 6th, 2023, for eight weeks. The event will feature a wide range of esports and gaming action, and this year, a $1 million CSGO tournament has been confirmed. The tournament is set to become one of the most valuable CSGO tournaments in the space, attracting gaming fans and esports competitors from around the world.
Gamers8 debuted last year and attracted over 1.4 million attendees, with a total prize pool of $15 million. This year, there’s a $30 million prize pool up for grabs, with Dota 2 taking the largest portion of the pool. The event is part of a monumental plan to create 39,000 job opportunities and make Saudi Arabia a leading player in the esports space, with a $37 billion investment strategy.
The event, dubbed ‘The Land of Heroes’, will also play host to a $15 million Dota 2 tournament. As the event draws nearer, more tournaments are expected to be confirmed. Gamers8 is set to become a one-stop-shop for all things gaming and esports, with festivals, live music performances, family-friendly activities, and educational events.
Despite the event’s popularity, not all groups support it. Moist Esports confirmed it would be boycotting Gamers8 due to the Saudi Arabian government’s stance on the LGBTQ+ community. However, high-profile partnerships are emerging, with Razer named the official gaming gear partner of the tournament.
The chairman of the Saudi Esports Federation, Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, said that “Gamers8: The Land of Heroes is going to be the destination this summer, and we are delighted to once again welcome the elite of the esports world to Riyadh. The Land of Heroes is the place for both esports champions competing for glory and gaming fans looking to write their own stories.”
As the CSGO tournament approaches, fans are eagerly anticipating the action that will unfold. With a massive prize pool of $1 million, the tournament is set to be a major highlight of Gamers8.
